I have been based in the Deux-Sèvres for only one year. Previously, I lived for a long time near Angers, in Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné, at the heart of the Layon hills. To gain a broader perspective on my various works, I invite you to visit the website of the Cultural Association, recognized as being of public interest, of which I have been President for over fifteen years. This association has contributed to cultural initiatives in the Anjou region. Numerous events and educational projects were and continue to be active, notably with the Château d’Angers, where I still conduct guided tours of my monumental work: “Les aveux de la pierre”. These tours are accompanied by educational workshops for schools.

Artist’s Career

Approximately sixty solo exhibitions throughout France (Nice, Cannes, Monaco, Paris and the Paris region, Anjou and Angers, Pont-Aven, Saint-Malo, Bordeaux, Le Mans, Rennes, Nantes, Limoges), as well as around twenty participations in art fairs (Paris: Carrousel du Louvre, Salon d’Automne, Roquebrune-sur-Argens, Sculpture Salons, etc.).

Until three months ago, he exhibited in his own Art Space, “Champs du M’Onde”.

Moreover, he has been shown in about 20 major galleries in France and abroad, including: Opera Gallery in Monaco and on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, Galerie Rustinoff and Joël Guyot in Saint-Paul de Vence, Galerie Medicis, Galerie Ariel Siboni, Galerie Modus at Place des Vosges in Paris, Galerie De Buci on Rue de Seine Paris, Galerie Signature in Cannes, Galerie l’Artothèque in Rome, Galerie Insula in Paris and Île d’Yeu, Galerie Bréheret in Angers, Chapelle du Château d’Angers, Galerie BorderLine in Saint-Malo, Vents du Sud in Nantes, Galerie Christel in Limoges, etc., and he is represented in three private collections in the United States and the United Kingdom.

THE CONCEPTUAL PROJECT OF THE WORK:

Starting from a playful homophony: Haut Banc – Aubans (High Bench – Shrouds), we engage both the universe of humor and that of our language, whose subtlety and refinement allow us to immediately evoke a sense of joyful empathy with the work.

Furthermore, the formal reading of this creation conveys an implicit message: shrouds are naturally devoted either to a suspension bridge – which by its nature symbolizes connection between beings, acting as a vector of exchange and enriching passage, a conduit for discovery and reciprocal communication – or to a sailing boat, surely the most beautiful symbol of journey and adventure…

This “Haut Banc à Haubans” is therefore a poetic metaphor with multiple layers of interpretation. The playful invitation offered by its title can lead to both salutary pauses – “O Time, suspend thy flight…” – and to waking dreams: stopping in order to embark…

So, are you ready to set sail hoisting the great sail of dreams?

THE FORMAL PROJECT OF THE WORK:

The plan is to reuse the metal structure of a bench and add a double wooden seat. Since it is intended to be a “high bench”, it will be elevated so that the seating is slightly higher than usual. A piece of metal with a noble rust (Corten steel) will serve as the base.

The shrouds will be thin chrome-plated metal rods, extending the various contrasts: wood, polished metal, existing cast iron, and rusted metal.

These four materials will interact aesthetically, evoking both the notion of time and that of heterogeneous assembly, while contributing to a unified whole.
