For fifteen years, Pascal di Péri (himself a jazz musician) has been creating, alongside his sculptures and paintings, virtual pictorial works that he calls “Digital Weaving.”
JAZZ serves as the great inspirer. This theme, which challenges him to perform feats on his digital easel, finds under his vibratory brush a plastic alchemy, whose arabesques project us into an entirely new sensory dimension. Their dizzying interlacings indeed resonate with magnetic and magmatic powers, spiraling us and transporting us beyond any conventional paradigm.
Pascal di Péri intertwines arts, techniques, and universes to such an extent that, ultimately, these works appear textile in nature. Composing, interlacing, improvising, weaving, orchestrating his harmonic pixel threads, he plays, like a performer, with an acousto-chromatic parallel matter. Each of these graphic modulations is perceived through a dual sensory experience. The orchestrated sound vibrations effectively transform into “auroral iridescences,” exalting an enchanting photosensitive groove.
Pascal di Péri explores each theme through series of variations, in multiples of seven “chroma-jazz” (like the seven notes of a scale). Each chroma-jazz is an orchestral tapestry of a theme, capturing the enchantments of each musical universe: the prismatic delights of phrasing, tonal refinements of dissonances, subtle graces of appoggiaturas, penetrating glazes of diminished or augmented chord inversions, incantatory contrasts of pulsations, pigmentary fevers of accents, throbbing chainings of cadences, virtuosity of lines, and the staggering nuances of choruses…
Through a cosmic pixel-canvas interplay, these arrangements of imperceptible wave-threads generate radiant beams of harmonic spirals. True musical frescoes emerge from these flights of “dreamlike metaphories.”
The moiré interlacings of these choreographies in shades, energized by picturo-acoustic syncopations, traverse the porosity of the senses. Their swing-infused eurythmy produces a prodigious texture!
An oneiric magic escapes from their loops with enchanted tangencies. In their graphic grandeur, they transform the virtual to offer our now music-colored sensory strings the intuition of a sixth sense: “Musical Touch.”
